  1. I just saw this clip as well. Terrifying. I have no idea why Danes expect the United States to be so laissez-faire, when there’s so many examples of stupid laws on every level of society.

  2. @Whiteberg, you’ve gotten it all wrong:

This law is an exception to the rule of laissez-faire in the US, but laissez-faire is still very much the norm – experts X, Y and Z have all told me that, so it must be true. There really aren’t that many exceptions, that many ’stupid laws’.

Besides, laws like this one aren’t ’stupid’ at all. It is not a stupid law, it is a good law. It is a sensible law intending to help people, so that they don’t eat foods that aren’t good for them. Don’t you want to help people?

If you think about it, by selling these bacon dogs the vendor is really systematically killing people; from heart disease, food poisoning ect. 45 days was really a very mild punishment, who knows how many heart attacks she has caused already? I’d have given her a life sentence. But it’s not too late – she’s still selling the stuff.

When it all comes down to it, we had better both admit that we’re just too stupid to truly understand why laws like this one is necessary. I’m sure they know what they’re doing, and that what they do is right. They’re trying to protect us. What more do we really need to know?

    [/sarcasm off]
